A number of years ago we were asked to produce a custom tree ornament for a funeral home client. At the time, were offering a glass ball ornament that could be imprinted on two sides with custom messages or logos. It seems the Director’s wife was also a calligrapher and asked if we could just imprint a nice border so she could hand letter the deceased name within the border. We produced a very nice ornament just to meet her needs. In fact we still provide that very same ornament for her to this day.
Each year this particular funeral home holds a memorial service for all the families they served that year. The ornaments were hung on a Memorial Tree at the funeral home and after the service the families were given their loved one’s memorial ornament to take home as a tribute to their memory.
The program became very popular and now has become a tradition that the families look forward to. It has also become a time of healing and reconciliation during a very stressful time of year. A pastor is invited to hold a service and the families are encouraged to stay afterward for light refreshments and to share their feelings with those in attendance or with the pastor.
Lots of people have sent letters of appreciation to this funeral service provider for such a great way to heal and share. The family members are also very appreciative of receiving the memorial ornaments. The ornaments created quite a stir.
